Saturday at AFL The People’s Bank Stadium for Gold Coast vs Richmond.
Jeanette dropped Ken off at Pacific Square Shopping Centre and then he walked to Broadbeach South along the side of the Shopping Centre to then Cath the shuttle bus (free) to Carrara and the stadium. It was another example of how the transport is coordinated around your entry ticket to the game.
When we left vthe Accor resort here at Freshwater Point it was a warm afternoon with no forecast of rain , but when we arrived at the stadium at 2.3opm to watch the end of the seconds game it was apparent that a change was coming and with it strong winds and rain. The VFL match between these teams was an interesting contest with Gold Coast always clearing by 4-5 goals.
After this game there was about an hour between the start of the AFL game and the crowd built quite quickly and there’re was the usual noise and music. The game was very much one sided with Gold Coast dominating and playing a good brand of football, whilst Richmond were poor and most inaccurate. About the start of the third term a heavy squall of wind and Rainfall hit the ground, with people scurrying to get under cover. It only lasted some 25 minutes , but left a very sold wind . Ken was cold and was glad to depart just after 3/4 time and then board a bird at B^ or B7 back to Broadbeach South Bus and light Rail area. The he telephoned Jeanette who drove to pick him up at thre drop off area to the shops at Pacific Fair some 10 minutes later.
An enjoyable day, football was disappointing and very one sided. Transport and ground access was excellent. This Stadium is excellent to watch AFL Football as you sit high overlooking the players although until later we were looking into the Sun.
We cam Vick to the Freshwater Point Accor Resort in about 7 minutes from pickup and then changed and warmed up . We enjoyed a meal of soup and toast with ice-cream for desserts and then watched the Collingwood vs Brisbane match from the MCG with Brisbane recording an excellent result to defeat Collingwood by 27 points in probably the game of 2025.
Into bed at 10.45pm after another enjoyable day. We both slept very well. Ken admitted to being very tired after his day out in the fresh air and wind.. He also feels that he was struggling under the affects of his medication.
Sunday - A Quiet Day Accor Presentation and a day of catching up with Washing etc.
We woke at about 7.45am after sleeping in, Jeanette was up about 7.00am, had breakfast then did a load of washing and also put the dishwasher on. After showering we each did some work re our ionaian and GWUC issues, before morning tea and then a scheduled visit to the Accor showroom for a presentation as to Accor Vacation Club.
The following photos are of our Freshwater Point Resort in Broadbeach Gold Coast. The location is about 700 metres walk from Pacific Fair Shopping Centre which is a key hub of the Gold Coast.
WE are staying in a one bedroom Unit, beautifully furnishesd and very comfortable.
