Overnight at Sofitel Broadbeach, Queensland
We have booked to stay overnight at Sofitel Broadbeach in a luxury Suite using both points and cash. It is a great decision as we are in room 1909 with spectacular views over the surf beach at Broiadbeach looking up towards the Gold Coast. We will go for a walk tomorrow morning.
We do unpack some of our clothes and find the case with the broken wheel a challenge.
Having spent time earlier after arrival at coolangatta for lunch at the Surf Club before travelling to Broadbeach we decided upon an easy afternoon and just relaxing.
The Woolworths Supermarket is around the corner in our building and Ken goes to get some items. We have a light meal of snacks, after a walk around Victoria Square, take in the fantastic surf beach and accept our travel day has been successful and enjoyable.
The morning comes very quickly after we both sleep well in a comfortable King sized bed, then after breakfast of yoghurts and muffins and orange juice and coffee, Ken decides to go for a walk to the beach before we need to pack and then make our way back into NSW to commence our week at Cabarita Beach at Tamarind Sands Resort.
There are many people on the beach, and I guess most are tourists in shorts and tees , whereas the locals all have pullovers on and heavier clothing. to us it is just perfect.
upon his return and having also purchased hearing aid batteries (312) we quickly pack and then drive back along the Pacific highway past the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and along the croutes of the planned light rail extension to Burleigh Heads. We are surprised as to the significant progress and the delays are not as long.
We enjoyed this initial brief stop in Broadbeach before moving on for our first longer stay.
The resort at Cabarita Beach is very pleasant with good features and comfortable fittings.
Before coming to the resort we enjoyed lunch at the Coolangatta Surf Club then picked up some groceries and checked in after spending about 30 ministers at Point Danger just on the NSW/ Queensland border . Weather was ideal with many people out watching a pod of whales play in the water some 200 metres off shore. There were 5 whales bit my photos haven’t caught them.
There locals were saying it has been a terrific time to watch them making their trek North at this time of year.
