Golf at Coolangatta Tweed Golf Club.

Ken had booked golf for Monday afternoon having been advised that Tuesday was fully booked and was largely ladies day.

Jeanette drove home to the Course and dropped him off at about 12.00pm for a 12.30pm tee time. He paid his green fees and collected the cart. Then had about 15 minutes putting and pitching before hitting off on the second, because the first hole was closed for irrigation works. Ken was playing with Brian who was off 12 and was a good player and a very nice chap. He owns a business here on the Tweed but regualaqlrly has Tuesday afternoon off. I offered to share my cart but he said he prefers the exercise and the charge of $50 per cart is extortion in his view.

The course was in good condition until we came to the later holes from 14-18 where there were low patches affected by last weeks raindfall and the carts were not allowed on the fairways but were forced to drive down the right rough.

The weather was fine Ken played off 21, hit the Ball well and had 16 points for the first 8 holes and then 21xpoints for the back nine. Brian who was in trhe competition ended up with 40 points and will probably win a ball. He is a good steady player with extremely good iron play and makes putts. A nice chat and I very much enjoyed his company.

We finished our round at 4.10pm and it had been enjoyable. This course is always a good challenge and Ken will try tp play again on Thursday.

He was awaiting Jeanette when she’s called out to him from the carpark. We then drove to see the beach and hopefully whales and pelicans at Cabarita Beach. We saw several Pelicans and there had been several Whales but none during our time there. The weather whilst perfectly clear was also subject to a cold breeze. Ken walked to take photos of the Pelicans and those watching to see Whales on the Beach. It is surprising to d\see the degree of soil erosion at the beach follwing the recent storm. . We walked back to the car in the car park by the Cabarita Beach Surf Club.

We returned to Tamarind Sands by 5.00pm, where he showered and changed into tracksuit pants and a warmer top..

We ate in and enjoyed the meal, then watched some television before going to bed early at 9.20pm.

Another excellent day. Back at our resort we saw a couple of Curlews beside our car park and I have included these in the photos.
