Passau and the Arrival and Boarding of Viking Vilhjalm.
We have enjoyed several days in the beautiful river town of Passau. The city itself is a small city with the river being the centre of activity. Jeanette and I have spent 3 days here and have had an excellent time touring the city and then also took a train from Passau to Linz.
The township itself is a traditional European river township with many restaurants and tourism. We are staying in. A beautiful old hotel which has been restored only to be flooded some 6 weeks ago up to a height of say 6 feet above the ground floor. That is hard to believe. Our suite is very pleasing and we overlook the Danube. The river is a bustling hub of activities with many barges and then the regular toursit boats traversing the river.
The train trip from Berlin to Passau on the ICE express was just excellent with comfortabl;e seats and we arrived at about 4.30pm and then queued for a Taxi to take us to the hotel.
Check in was prompt. It is a near perfect location just near the City Hall (Town Halll).
