Brunch at nearby Alkemist Cafe - Simply Brilliant.
We awoke after sleeping in. It is another clear and cloudless sky with temperatures forwecast to reach 23 degrees. There is a call for rough Surf Conditions today as the winds change around.
We booked a brunch at Alkemist local Cafe using the vouchers from our presentsation at Accor Vacation Club. We had a lovely late morning meal. The food was enjoyable and then we washed it down with an enjoyable cappuccino. It is surprising to see the amount of work going into restoring the Surfers Paradise beach which has been significantly eroded by the recent storms. Ken got talking to secveral locals who said they had never seen the storms, mountainous waves and utter devastation as far as the erosion issues along the whole of the Gold Coast.
Some people advised that the beaches at beautiful Burleigh Heads have even more dmaage than here at the Gold Coast. It is interesting that several walkways from the roadway and turfed garden areas remain closed because the beaches at had been eroded and there are drop off of about 6-10 feet where the sand has been washed away and it is likely to be months before it is restored through pumping operations.
Jeanette visited the Star Casino for a short time and Ken returned to pick her up at 2.30pm. We then drove back to the unit where we had a load of washing to hang out on the patio in the late afternoon sun. It will not be fully dry , so may have to use the dryer but the 23 or 24C dregree weather will certainly get most of the water out of it. We are sitting in our Inuit with the door wide open, taking in the cloudless blue skies. It is certainly a perfect framework.
Golf tomorrow for Ken and Jeanette will do some shopping.
The holiday has passed too quickly..
The photos from our Unit display the near perfect morning. We walked to the Cafe.
The Surf beach at Broadbeach has been significantly damaged and shows the severe erosion from the massive storms of some 3 months ago.
The expectation is that it will take perhaps 18 months and millions of dollars to rejuvenate trhe Broadbeach back to its pre storm situation..
